Signs of Spring

Good Morning Wee Vikings!

We are praying you all had a wonderful Easter.  I hope the Easter Bunny was good to you.  I received a few more Easter pictures from some very busy Wee Vikings.

Today we will look at the signs of Spring.  Have any of you seen a bird nest?  If you have seen the same bird going back and forth to a bush or a tree or even a little corner, it is probably building a nest.
I found a Robin's nest last year and we watched it hatch baby Robins.  The eggs are baby blue,
Robin Egg Blue.

We never touched the eggs or the nest but we watched very closely. Miss. Allison has a Bluebird box outside of her window in her classroom.. I am going to go to school and take a picture and see of it has any eggs in it.
Here's a really cute video about Five Little Birds..... https://youtu.be/6fLTVrWUtNU

Do you know everything that birds use to build nest?  God made them very resourceful.                        They use people hair, fur, grass, string, sticks, pine straw or anything else soft for their babies.  Watch how God made the birds to build their nest just by using their beaks.                  https://youtu.be/KpDCQBPPTFM

If you have construction paper, scissors and glue you can make a bird with ovals and circles and draw legs and a beak.  You can also just draw a bird with markers or crayons by using those shapes.

Mom, if you are feeling really brave on this Monday morning you could cook some spaghetti and
let them play with the noodles to build a nest. Children love that sensory learning.                                   Noodles and nest both start with N.  What else starts with N?

If you don't want to mess with noodles, they could make a bird feeder with cereal and string.

You could also make some binoculars to go on a bird watching nature walk.
You can use rolled up paper or paper towel roll cut in half or 2 toilet paper rolls and string.

We have given you a lot of ideas.  You are free to do a little or all, what ever fits your schedule.
We miss you all and pray that you are happy and healthy.

We will end the day with one of favorite books about nest.   https://youtu.be/D40oPf8hlAA
