Bear Hunts and Dr. Seuss

We have a wonderful few weeks. The children are developing a strong desire to explore their world through literature, art and play.  For the past month, we’ve  learned all about bears; graphing them, drawing them, sorting them and even eating them,  We also learned about the great author Dr.Seuss.

This time of the year is so rewarding for us as we watch the children develop their own sense of themselves and how they fit into the world around them.

Mrs. Diane Z. Shore, visiting author for Mixon-Fincher week..

Wednesday we had a visiting author visit our elementary school during Mixon Fincher week.  Mixon-Fincher week is a week where we celebrate art and literacy.  It is a week dedicated in honor of two special teachers who taught at FPD for many years.   This week our featured Mixon-Fincher children’s author was Mrs. Diane Z. Shore.  Mrs Shore talked to us about how hard she worked to become a published author.  She has many great books and shared several with us.

We ate 100 pieces of snack, did 100 exercises, created a cupcake using 100 sprinkles and made gumball machines with 100 gumballs.  We had a sUpEr mOoN too, that really amped things up! 💥 It was a fun day!
