Earth Day

Today we talked about Earth Day and how we can take care of our planet. We painted the planet Earth on huge coffee filters. We talked about the ocean and land and how God created both with just a command. We read the creation story and stand amazed at His majestic handiwork.

Why coloring is important

I've noticed lately that coloring is not an activity that children necessarily choose at free centers. Mrs. Jaime ( our art teacher) and I had this discussion yesterday , children do not seem to color anymore. It isn't about staying in the lines, but it is about strengthening fine motor, "owning" and developing their creativity, coordination, boundaries and focus.  When possible, please color with your preschool babies. There is a reason it worked so well for so many years. Technology today is taking that simple task away.  I found this article that explains the significance of a child coloring. Hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did.

Staying in the lines?

We colored a book this week , " All About Spring".  I told the children to color the pages so that the book would look interesting to read.
After several pages came back to me looking like this we had to have a heart to heart talk. I told the children that God wants us to do our best at everything we do, rushing through things does not equal success. I told them that God tells us this in the bible in Colossians 3:23, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your hearts, as working for the Lord, not for men." we then tried to color our books again, and might I add, with great success.

Springtime Masterpieces

In art with Mrs Jaime today we played with clay and created a really cute sculpture that reminds us of Spring and the new beginnings God brings.  The finished products will be amazing! ❤️
